GUAIFENESIN/DEXTROMETHORPHAN/DECONGESTANT - ORAL
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough.
Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. This combination medication is used to treat a cough and relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinsuitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: This medication is best taken with a full glass of water after a meal or snack.
Sawllow long acting tablets and capsules whole. Do not crush or chew them cause the long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased. Take this medication as prescribed. Do not raise your dose or take this more often than direcetd.
SIDE EFFECTS: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry motuh or nervousness may occur. If any of these effcets persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or dififcult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any drug allergies. Chcek this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnigns regarding PPA side effects.
Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you're unceratin this product has PPA. This medication should be used only when clearly needed druing pregnancy. Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor.
This meidcation may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.G., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.G., codeine, morphine).
Limit your intake of alcoholic bveerages while taking this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, lagre pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication.
It will help to break up muucs and clear congestion.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not sotre in the bathroom.
